Faith Declared as One(Couple)

In the early 80’s when we were still new in the faith, we were reluctant to declare ourselves as Born Again Christians to our immediate families. To escape ridicule and persecution, we would go to a Catholic church in the morning and attend fellowship in a Christian church in the afternoon. We did this for almost a year and a half. It was at this time of confusion and undecisiveness that we met a missionary couple from Canada by the name of Reverend Franklin & Mrs. Dorris Irwin who patiently ministered and discipled us.

Finally, by the grace and mercy of God through His Word and the workings of the Holy Spirit, we put an end to our double-mindedness. We stopped going to the Catholic church and underwent discipleship courses to strengthen our faith. Although we did not escape our respective families’ dismay and eventual persecution, we experienced real joy and freedom in declaring ourselves as followers of Christ. We thank God that He has kept us united in our decision as a couple to openly declare our faith. Facing opposition together has drawn us closer and made our marriage stronger. Praise the Lord!
