NEWS FLASH!!

The Couples Ministry salutes all the Mothers!

As a salute to the mothers, the Couples Ministry assigned the husbands to organize the Mother’s Day Celebration last May 10. Thanks to Bro Sonny and Sister Shirley who successfully spearheaded the event.

The celebration was ushered in by a short film which starred Sis Mayven and other members of the Ministry in a real-life drama about mother-child relationship. The film featured the different stages of motherhood from pregnancy to senior age. It was a strong way to depict the kind of love, care and sacrifice a mother gives to her children. After the movie, the children of some of Couples’ Ministry members entertained the Moms with a live-band performance on stage.

But can a party be complete without fun and games? This time some mothers joined a contest put together and administered by Brother Sonny. Alertness was key to winning in this game. The microphone was passed on to the mom-contestants who were expected to respond to Brother Sonny’s call by either saying,. Hep-hep with a clap below and Hurray with hands raised above. The moms wittingly responded despite the deliberate effort of Brother Sonny to mislead them. The game took longer than what was planned because the mothers performed impressively. Finally, the game was won by two great moms who stayed focused all the time.

The feverish excitement continued as the Dads served dinner to the Moms from a banquet prepared out of love, by no less than the Dads themselves. And for most of the Moms that evening, the best part of the feast was when “bulalo” was served - you really deserve it!

The night will not be complete without the husbands’ production number. Who will forget a rapper who lipped sync? Who will not smile while gazing on Dads’ wobbling bodies? Who will not laugh as each one cracked out their own punch lines? Who will be bored with two seemingly blind singers who courageously finished their songs while others were throwing coins in their cups? It was a really fun-filled entertainment for the Moms.

The party ended with a surprise slide presentation of the Moms’ pictures during their younger years which the Dads managed to sneak out. The lights were turned off and a background music was played as the pictures were flashed. The Dads and the children held lighted candles in front which symbolized the Moms, being the light of the home. And finally, a simple token was handed out to each Mom.

Everyone will agree, including the fathers, that motherhood is the toughest job in the whole world. God must have specially designed them with inherent abilities, virtues, and love as He gave them the privilege to be the mothers of their children. Mothers are truly one of the best gifts of God to the whole mankind.

Happy Mother’s Day to All!
